Seaprog 2018 Dates Set — June 1 – 3

The dates are set — Seaprog will happen again on the first weekend of June, 2018. We’re working on getting some artists lined up and will make announcements as soon as details are nailed down.

Four weekends of amazing music over the course of the last five years presents the promise of more great things to come. Thanks to all who have supported us, especially those who have attended multiple times.

And once again, heartfelt thanks to the management and staff at both the Columbia City Theater and the Royal Room, all of the artists who graced us with their performances, and the volunteers who made it work.

Stay tuned for more details!

Seaprog 2017 is history!

Coming back up for air after a spiritually rejuvenating Seaprog 2017 filled with unforgettable performances and the warm camaraderie of listeners and musicians alike. We can’t thank the artists and attendees enough for making this perhaps the most satisfying edition to date.

We owe a special debt of gratitude to our distinguished visitors from Mexico City, NYC, the Bay Area, Portland, and Bellingham; the gracious staff of Columbia City Theater and the Royal Room; and definitely not least, the volunteers who are the backbone of Seaprog. A big shout-out as well to Jennifer Fisher and Danette Davis for documenting the proceedings; Mike Pollack for his generous worldwide radio coverage; Ibex for setting up the Cabezas de Cera / Zero Times Everything show in Bellingham; and Ben Spees for setting up Jack o’ the Clock’s Portland concert.

While it’s too early for the weary organizers to turn their attention to next year, based on this year’s happy outcome, early odds are that Seaprog will return in 2018. As one local paper (no doubt ironically) put it, ‘prog rock refuses to die!’

Seaprog 2017 Day Zero was a thing

Heartfelt thanks to the capacity crowd and staff at last night’s Seaprog kickoff at the Royal Room, who were regaled by four powerful, highly varied sets by Seattle cosmonauts. That’s just the tip of the iceberg for this year’s fest, which today features distinguished visitors Cabezas de Cera and Zero Times Everything, plus regional gems Chemical Clock, Super Z Attack Team, Fraktal Phantom, Jan Koekepan, and Rainstick Cowbell. Day passes and single-act admissions still available at a steal; details at seaprogfest.org

Seaprog 2017 approaches

The Central Committee has been busy getting ducks into rows and appropriate dots and crosses on letters. We’ve asked the wonderful Nat Damm to design our poster this year, and we’re pretty happy with the results. (Image to be recovered.)

And check out the schedule page, where all the set times are now posted. We’ve still got a few things to come for the front room, so don’t think this is all there is. As if it wasn’t already an amazing lineup.

Seaprog is thrilled to announce the majority of the 2017 lineup! California will be represented by the amazing Jack o’ the Clock, a Bay Area band with a unique sound that has been garnering praise for several years, with their latest album gracing many Best of 2016 lists. And we’ll have a Seaprog first with the audio-visual show of Zero Times Everything. This band combines innovative electronics and visual presentations into the kind of performance we’ve yet to experience on our stage.

But once again, our focus remains on highlighting the talent available in the Northwest, with bands representing Seattle (Omni, Paraeasthesia, Pinto Wagonfire, Moon Letters), Portland (Human Ottoman), and Bellingham (Ibex).

Additional extremely appetizing acts are currently in negotiation and will be announced in due time. Look for periodic artist profiles to come on our Facebook page.
