Presenting creative music in Seattle since 2013
Back in 2015, we presented Nik Turner with Flame Tree in a performance that combined one of the elder statesmen of space rock with an ensemble of Seattle musicians billed as Flame Tree. But Flame Tree still exists to this day, in a different form.
Drummer Jack Gold-Molina leads this improvising group of intrepid musical explorers towards the free frontiers of rock.

Hound Dog Taylor’s Hand is an improvising trio that’s been sowing chaos on the Seattle music scene since 2010, when Jeffrey Taylor (guitar) got together with John Semen (double bass) and Mark Ostrowski (drums).
They’ve released more than a dozen items on Bandcamp, and have also collaborated with others. Hound Dog Taylor’s Hand has performed around the Pacific Northwest with Eugene Chadbourne, feedtime, Acid Mothers Temple, Jooklo Duo, Lori Goldston, Sir Richard Bishop, Lee Ranaldo, Kinski, Chris Corsano, and James Brandon Lewis & the Messthetics. In 2025 HDTH released Albumen, a collaboration with Greg Kelley and Mike Watt, and in 2026 The Structure and Dynamics of Disordered Systems with Joe Paradiso.

It’s only a couple of weeks from our next show at Kenyon Hall, and you don’t want to miss this one!
We’re doing a new kind of hybrid event starting out with vinyl Play ‘n’ Tell at 6:30. We’ll have an experienced DJ on hand with some progressive and experimental LPs, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own favorite albums to share a track along with a few words about why it’s special.
Then at 7:30, we’ll start with live music. First up is The Army of Experimental Children, a project of James DeJoie of Moraine and 20 or so other bands. The Army centers on his vocal music and features a seasoned ensemble of some of Seattle’s best players bringing to life songs that wander between art rock, space rock, electronic experimentation, and more.
Next up we have the Seattle debut of Portland’s Earthbound for a set of dark and intense instrumental progressive rock. Brian Heaney’s compositions are full of twists, turns, and the sounds of vintage keyboards.
Finally, we have Plash, a band that brings together math-rock and catchy vocal melodies into songs that are both complex and accessible.
After moving to Portland in 2020, Brian Heaney set out to create a version of progressive rock rooted in his early influences and the music that continues to inspire, a significant departure from his musical projects with the Seattle-based bands Ask the Ages, Sunship, and Stinkhorn. Earthbound came together after he reconnected with drummer Stuart McLeod, another former Seattle musician, bassist Dan Mowery, who moved to PDX from Austin, and keyboardist Brian Magill, a PDX native. They recently finished recording their debut album, which will be released digitally this month.

James DeJoie has appeared on Seaprog stages more than almost any other individual musician, having played with Moraine, Zhongyu, Zubatto Syndicate, Reaven Trio, and Rik Wright’s Fundamental Forces, among others. The Army of Experimental Children is a project centered around his vocal music, and features an ensemble combining strings, woodwinds, a rhythm section, and electronic manipulation.
