Back at Kenyon Hall for more music on 19 September

It’s only a couple of weeks from our next show at Kenyon Hall, and you don’t want to miss this one!

We’re doing a new kind of hybrid event starting out with vinyl Play ‘n’ Tell at 6:30. We’ll have an experienced DJ on hand with some progressive and experimental LPs, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own favorite albums to share a track along with a few words about why it’s special.

Then at 7:30, we’ll start with live music. First up is The Army of Experimental Children, a project of James DeJoie of Moraine and 20 or so other bands. The Army centers on his vocal music and features a seasoned ensemble of some of Seattle’s best players bringing to life songs that wander between art rock, space rock, electronic experimentation, and more.

Next up we have the Seattle debut of Portland’s Earthbound for a set of dark and intense instrumental progressive rock. Brian Heaney’s compositions are full of twists, turns, and the sounds of vintage keyboards.

Finally, we have Plash, a band that brings together math-rock and catchy vocal melodies into songs that are both complex and accessible.

Seaprog Presents Off the Record

On Saturday, 19 September, we return to Kenyon Hall for another Seaprog Presents show. This one features some familiar faces in new settings. It’s also an Off the Record event, so the evening will start at 6:30 with Vinyl Play ‘n’ Tell, where attendees are invited to bring in a favorite LP, play a track, and share why they think it’s worthy of attention. Tune Audio will be on hand to act as host.

Live music will start at 7:30, featuring Plash, Earthbound, and The Army of Experimental Children.

On Saturday May 2, 2026, we planned to co-present the first of what we hope will be a continuing series of events that combine a kind of show-and-tell for vinyl LPs and a live performance by a band. Off the Record is produced in conjunction with Guaranteed Fresh at Culture Yard in Fremont.

At 4:30 we’ll start out with Tune Audio hosting some classic vinyl, and guests are welcome to bring a favorite LP to share, along with a brief statement about why you like it so much. 70s prog? Classic fusion? Avant-rock? Share what floats your boat!

And then, we’ll have a set from Plash, a relatively new Seattle band that’s known for math-rock rhythms and catchy melodies.

The event is free, though donations will be accepted to help defray costs.

Due to  an illness in the band, the event had to be cancelled. We hope to be able to present them at a future date.

New event coming: Off the Record – CANCELLED!

Seaprog is happy to announce a new collaboration with Guaranteed Fresh Fest for a new event series called Off the Record. The idea is to combine favorite vinyl records and live music into a hybrid event that celebrates creativity in music.

Yes, it’s Vinyl Culture meets Live Music. That’s the slogan, and it represents an opportunity to bring together favorite music from way back with something new and exciting in the form of a current band playing a live set. Our first event will be on Saturday May 2 at Culture Yard in Fremont, 120 N 35th St. Seattle WA 98103. We’re starting it at 4:30pm and run until 6:00, so you won’t get stuck out late, and if you’re so inclined you can even catch another band later in the evening.

If you’ve got a collection of LPs you love, you can bring one or two to share with everyone, and say a few words about why you think it’s noteworthy. This should be a great way to build connections between fellow fans and argue about their merits — in a friendly way, of course! We all know that tastes differ.

Did we mention live music? Yes! We’re very pleased to be presenting Plash, a Northwest band that’s been around for a few years creating great music. They’ve got a wonderful take on modern music that combines catchy melodies with tricky rhythms in a very engaging way.

Entry will be free, though we’ll be accepting donations to defray expenses.

Plash is a band based in Seattle that brings a melodic, poppish sense of songwriting to a blend of math-rock and whatever else they feel like. The phrase “progressive K-pop” has been used, and is not completely out of line with their unusual music. They’re part of a new generation bringing complexity into the modern music scene while sounding not at all nostalgic.

They released their first album, i live alone, in 2026, and have been playing live in the area for a few years.
