Guitarist Simon Henneman put together UbuludU! as an extension and evolution of his previous band, Cantrip. Moving on from boundary-breaking jazz-rock, the group moved toward a heavier sound, with a fusiony take on stoner rock.
After starting as a five-piece, Spine Readers developed into a Bellingham power trio specializing in all sub-genres of pop music. Their music was wonderfully unpredictable, crashing from melodic rock to crazed funk to thrashing punk-rock.
Fronted by the theatrical vocals of Sean Meyer, the group never failed to be both impressive and entertaining. Meyer’s untimely death brought the band to an end, and they released the Lab Results album in his memory.
Guitar Cult is a group of Seattle area guitarists assembled by Ben McAllister to play his compositions, which present a mixture of minimalism and maximalism by bringing together seven or so guitars with a drum kit.
McAllister’s background runs back to the early 80s, when he played in Medicine Hat, and has extended through a number of bands playing various styles of music, but he has also studied music theory and composition, and Guitar Cult fulfills some of that ambition.
Bill Wolford and Ahmad Yousefbeigi have been collaborating in various configurations of Yesod for more than ten years, producing spontaneous soundscapes blending sounds from around the world, both ancient and modern. Over the years, they have collaborated with a number of different musicians, but the esthetic of exploration free of the confines of jazz, rock, or any other specific genre has remained constant.

Tim Root is an American composer, pianist, and conductor. Trained in composition by some of the mavericks of the avant garde, he also received piano instruction from a student of Rachmaninoff. His writing weaves together complex rhythmic constructs, slippery melodies that never seem to settle onto a pitch center, and unique harmonies that can defy understanding while sounding grounded in tradition. For his debut album, he recruited an all-star cast of musicians from around the world, many of whom will be joining him for the Seaprog performance, which will be their debut live outing.
